Day 01

Upon arrival at Guwahati airport, you will be welcomed by our tour manager. If time permits, we visit one of the holiest shrines in the country, the temple of Ma Kamakhya, a shakti temple atop Nilachal hills.

Later drive to Tezpur(4 hours). Upon arrival we board the vessel. Dinner is followed by briefings. Overnight on board at Tezpur.


Day 02

Tezpur is a town of magnificent scenic beauty and exquisite archaeological ruins. After breakfast we start exploring this little charming town. We will visit the 6th century ruins of the door frame of Da-Parbatia temple, Agnigarh and the Cole Park.
Later we board the vessel and start sailing to Silghat. Lunch Onboard. After reaching Silghat, we will proceed to Kaziranga National Park by road for a Jeep Safari. After the Safari we will drive back to Silghat where we stay overnight onboard.

The Project Tiger Kaziranga National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the home to the endangered one horned rhinoceros (2048 rhinos as per 2009 census). Besides, the park has several species of mammals and birds. The park has 70% of the world population of the Asiatic Water Buffalos and the Eastern Swamp Deer. The Park has the highest density of the endangered Royal Bengal Tigers in India with a number of 32 tigers per 100 sq.km against 20 in Corbet NP as per a census report in April,2010. Amongst birds, the park has 25 globally threatened bird species.

Day 03

Early in the morning we drive to Kaziranga National Park again this time for an exciting elephant safari in the central range of the park. The great Indian one-horned Rhinos are easy to see. After an hour’s safari we return to our vessel at Silghat and have breakfast while the vessel starts sailing to our next destination Bishwanath Ghat.
Once we arrive there, we visit the Bishwanath temple belonging to the Ahom era. Afterwards we cruise further upstream and reach a deserted sand island in the evening. Dinner is followed by overnight stay onboard at the deserted island.

Day 04

Morning we cruise further through Kaziranga National Park on its Northern boundary. Breakfast and Lunch onboard. If luck favours, we may have sightings of herds of deer, wild elephants or even a big cat. On the way we will stop over a river side ‘Mising’ tribal village. We take a small walk and experience the life of the tribal people. Arrive at Upstream Dhansirimukh for overnight stay.

Day 05

Today we sail for the whole day and move to a deserted sand isle and enjoy the scenic beauty of Majuli. Guests can participate in the Yoga Class, enjoy onboard game competitions, buy mementos in the Onboard Memento Shop or can participate in the Enriching Guest Lectures. Dinner, Briefing and Overnight stay onboard near Kamalabari.
 

Day 06

After breakfast we will go for an excursion to Majuli, the largest river island in the World. It is the centre of Assam’s famous Vaisnavite form of Hinduism. The religious and cultural traditions are kept alive by the dedicated monks living in the monasteries locally known as Sattra. The monastery of Samaguri known as Samaguri Sattra is famous for the unique masks of Majuli which are used in Bhaona or religious plays. We shall visit some of the monasteries and interact with the monks. Multifaceted in its attractions Majuli also unfolds a variety of interests like migratory birds, traditional handicrafts and pottery, ethnic culture and dance forms. The Sattriya dance form of this Vaisnavite sect is the latest entry into India’s recognized classical dances.

Later in the evening, we sail to Neemati Ghat for overnight stay on board.


Day 07

Early morning, we go for a land excursion to Sivasagar, the power centre of the mighty Ahoms who ruled Greater Assam nearly 6 centuries. The Tai(or Thai) Ahoms belonging to the Shan race migrated to Assam from the Yunan province of China in 1228 A.D. and were in power till Assam fell to the British in 1826 A.D.. This Ahom rule is the golden era of Assam history where Assam witnessed a high level of civilization. Sivasagar is dotted with wonderful Ahom monuments reflecting a powerful empire.

We shall visit some of the remains of the Ahom Kingdom, the famous Shiva Temple, Ranghar, Talatalghar and the lakes namely Sivasagar(Borpukhuri) and Jaysagar which are said to be two of the largest man made.

Later we move to Jorhat to visit the famous Tocklai Tea Experimental Station which is one of the oldest of its kind in the world with great contributions to the world of tea industry.
Afterwards back to the Vessel.Today is the last night on the vessel. We enjoy the farewell dinner and get introduced to the vessel staff. Overnight on board.

Day 08

After breakfast transfer to Dibrugarh/Jorhat airport for your onward journey.
